I'm a creative coder from London. I've always found it hard to pick one thing to be interested in: I love drawing, painting, playing, composing and producing music, tinkering with technology, reading about the sciences, learning languages and going to the pub.

I did the International Baccalaureate at school because I'm a dyed-in-the-wool generalist, interested in finding the links between everything. After that, off to SOAS to study Chinese; discovering I didn't like the course so much, I then left and went to Durham to do Classics and Philosophy. Following that, a bit of a left turn in to a Sonic Arts masters at Goldsmiths, then rounding another bend to do a coding bootcamp at Makers Academy in Shoreditch.

Leaving Makers Academy, I was desperate to move to Berlin. Upon receiving a job offer in London, however, I immediately downed tools in the Berlin job search to start working for a London-based data science consultancy, with little knowledge of what data science was. The following year I was privileged to open our new Berlin office.

Hobbies, skills and personal interests

Music - I study composition in my spare time, and play piano, flute and bass. I’ve made several creative projects using technologies including Arduino, Pure Data, OpenOSC, Adobe Creative Suite and MIDI. I’m particularly interested in the intersection of science and art, a good philosophical debate, comedy, travelling and languages - I speak moderate French and German, and study Finnish. I’m also fond of reading about arcane topics on Wikipedia, and patronising arcane pubs in London.
